Which makes it hard for me to understand why people want to be
celebrities.
I mean, everything you say and do gets scrutinized and put
through a fine-toothed comb. You go out with a certain girl, the
news reports it, you eat chicken rice at a coffeeshop, 8 Days
reports it.
Once I saw Edmund Chen shopping with his son at a small sports
shop at Parkway Parade. At another time, I saw Joanne Peh strolling
past Meatworks at ION. At both occasions, people were pointing and
gawking.
No way for one to live, methinks. I'd rather be a nobody.
You know that Shakespearean quote about greatness? It's the same
with fame:
- Some people are born famous (children of celebrities),
- Some achieve fame (which is the way you're looking at it...
people deliberately doing things and selling stories to get into
the tabloids, for instance), and
- Some have fame thrust upon them (because they happen to be
good at what they do, like athletes).
